About Gulfstream

Built from inside independent optometry.

Gulfstream Strategic Advisory was founded by Justin Bazan, OD, an optometrist and longtime independent-practice owner who became deeply involved in rebuilding the digital infrastructure of his own practice.

The product grew from four practical needs: optometry context built in from the start; a site that can be changed easily and affordably enough to stay accurate over time; a digital source structured for an era when patients increasingly ask ChatGPT and other AI assistants for answers before—or instead of—visiting the website itself; and a way to measure whether the website is actually doing its job without confusing visibility or clicks with business outcomes. The complimentary AI Discoverability Report shows how AI currently finds and represents a practice; Practice Pulse, GSA’s monthly insights report, shows what we saw after launch, why it matters and what happens next.

Why it exists

The gap is not usually technology. It is translation.

Independent practices are information-dense businesses. A useful website has to explain doctors, services, insurance, contact lenses, optical, technology, scheduling and patient expectations without becoming generic or confusing.

After years of working with healthcare marketing vendors, Justin saw how often practice owners still had to translate the realities of optometry into requirements a web team could understand.

Gulfstream focuses on one job: building and managing AI era website infrastructure for independent optometry practices.

The working model

An optometrist’s context. A product team’s discipline.

Clinical and operational context

Understanding what independent practices actually do, how patients move through them and which details materially affect patient decisions.

Requirements before design

Defining goals, source information, priorities, constraints and acceptance criteria before deciding what the site should look like.

Modern engineering practices

Version control, staged review, testing, maintainable architecture and controlled deployment rather than one-off page production.

Human judgment

Reviewing claims, tradeoffs, clinical language and patient-facing details where context matters more than automation.

Founder perspective

From practice owner to product owner.

Gulfstream grew out of rebuilding Park Slope Eye, Justin’s own independent practice: documenting how the office actually works, deciding what patients need to understand, translating that into site architecture and reviewing the result like a software product.

Technology can accelerate research, analysis, development and quality assurance. Domain knowledge, careful requirements and verification still determine the quality of the result.

Continuity

Founder-led does not mean undocumented. The work is version-controlled, staged and documented rather than living in an undocumented one-off build. After the initial term, the practice-specific website is portable; GSA retains its reusable platform, tools and intellectual property.
